I dont think SP would survive if we opened a new one. Like you said we just need a few key super posters. We also have you who does all the big events. Skorge's smarts with running things. All that vs a buggy and constant virus infested bloated forum with only nostalgia.

I doubt people will want to pay monthly. Other forums have trouble getting enough donations, so they say.

There would be monthly expenses involved. The initial cost would be the greatest. I haven't actually priced anything yet, but I would like to start a fresh forum with the good people of SP.

I guess the first place to start would be the name so I can check for domain availability.

It's not really the software that's the issue, it's the database that stores all of the data. Starting fresh would be the best option. People can retain their post counts because that value can be modified directly.

Not sure if the free forum providers would allow the access needed to grab the data to move to a new server, at least, not without a cost.

I dont think we really need to carry over the old stuff. If people would want it, they can request it. Us hardcores hold a lot of data by ourselves

One idea might be to start up some sort of mutiny threat thread on SP? See how much support a good spin-off forum would have. Of course unless there's some major changes done to the SP forum software.
